Ard Al Zaafaran Bakhoor Dirham Gold 40g
Bakhoor Dirham Gold by Ard Al Zaafaran is a warm, smooth and room-filling bakhoor with a brighter opening than many traditional incense blends. Bergamot, pineapple and fresh herbal notes lift the first impression, while rose, jasmine, vanilla, pepper and carnation build a richer heart. Sandalwood, tonka bean and vetiver give the fragrance a soft, steady finish that lingers beautifully in the air.

A brighter take on oriental bakhoor
Some bakhoor blends open dark, dense and heavily resinous from the very first moment. Dirham Gold takes a different direction. It begins with a fresher, cleaner impression that feels lively and inviting, then gradually deepens into a warmer and fuller oriental scent. That contrast is exactly what makes this bakhoor so appealing. It feels rich without becoming heavy too quickly, and expressive without losing its smoothness.
The opening carries a clear freshness. Bergamot brings a bright citrus edge, while pineapple adds a fruity sweetness that softens the sharper corners and gives the scent a more approachable character. The herbal notes underneath keep everything balanced, adding a green, airy accent that stops the top from feeling too sugary. On hot charcoal, this opening shifts quickly from fresh to warm. The fruit becomes rounder, the citrus less sharp, and the whole fragrance starts to settle into something deeper and more enveloping.
Rose, jasmine and vanilla in the heart
At the centre of Dirham Gold sits a warm oriental accord built around rose, jasmine and vanilla. The rose is smooth and full rather than dry or powdery. Jasmine gives the blend extra depth and softness, while vanilla adds a gentle sweetness that rounds out the middle beautifully. Pepper and carnation stop the fragrance from becoming overly soft. They add a subtle spiced edge that gives the scent more shape and keeps it interesting as it develops.
This is where Dirham Gold feels especially well judged. It does not move from fresh to sweet in a flat or simple way. Instead, the floral-spiced middle gives the fragrance warmth, body and character. It fills a room in a smooth, elegant way and creates that familiar oriental atmosphere people look for in a good bakhoor: comforting, welcoming and noticeably luxurious, yet still easy to enjoy.
Warm woods and a smooth finish
The base gives Dirham Gold its staying power. Sandalwood brings a creamy woodiness that supports the sweeter heart notes without overwhelming them. Tonka bean adds a soft, slightly almond-like warmth, while vetiver introduces a drier, earthier thread that keeps the finish grounded. Together, these notes create a balanced drydown that feels warm, polished and steady rather than smoky or rough.
That balance is one of the strongest parts of this bakhoor. The fragrance does not collapse after the first burst of sweetness, nor does it turn harsh once the top notes fade. Instead, it settles into a rounded, room-friendly scent profile that remains pleasant and noticeable without becoming oppressive.
How Dirham Gold differs from classic Dirham
Dirham Gold is often seen as the warmer and fuller interpretation of the original Dirham style. It keeps that recognisable brightness in the opening, but adds more depth, more sweetness and a richer heart. If you enjoy bakhoor with a fresher start but want something softer, warmer and more substantial as it develops, Dirham Gold is an excellent choice.
It also works well for people who do not usually enjoy very dark or very intense incense. The fruity opening and smooth woody base make it easier to approach than heavier oud-led bakhoor, while still delivering the room-filling character expected from an oriental incense blend.
How to use
This 40g version is pressed bakhoor. It is best used by breaking off a small piece rather than placing a large solid block directly on the charcoal. Light an incense charcoal tablet and wait until it is fully lit and evenly glowing. Once the charcoal is ready, place it in a suitable bakhoor burner or another heatproof incense holder. Break off a small amount of Dirham Gold, lightly crumble it if needed, and place only a little on top of the charcoal. Add more later if required. Using too much at once can reduce the heat and prevent the bakhoor from developing properly.
Always use on a heatproof surface and never leave burning charcoal unattended. Keep away from children and pets, and ventilate the room after use.
