Jaina by Sultan Essancy – Unisex Eau de Parfum
Top notes: peach, blood orange, cardamom, heliotrope
Heart notes: rum, cognac, davana flowers, jasmine
Base notes: patchouli, tonka, sandalwood, vanilla, cashmeran, benzoin, styrax, labdanum, vetiver
Jaina opens bright and juicy with peach and blood orange, then quickly moves toward a warmer, almost liqueur-like heart. Rum, cognac, davana, and jasmine lead into a long base shaped by patchouli, tonka, sandalwood, vanilla, and several balsamic resins.
This progression keeps Jaina from reading like a conventional fruit scent. The lively opening is only the first chapter; spice, florals, resins, and woods steadily become more important. That pronounced change of mood gives the fragrance a confident unisex character.
Peach and blood orange set the opening
Peach provides succulent fruitiness at the start, while blood orange adds brightness and a slight bitter edge. Cardamom contributes dry warmth. Heliotrope softens the blend and hints at the creamier direction that becomes more obvious later.
The four opening notes deliberately pull in different directions. Fruity sweetness meets citrus lift and warm spice, with heliotrope smoothing the edges. Jaina therefore begins with more depth than a simple peach accord and immediately suggests a layered development.
When rum and cognac become more prominent, the atmosphere changes. Fruit remains in the background, but the heart feels warmer and darker. Davana and jasmine keep the spirit-like facets from becoming dense or monotonous, giving the middle both lift and complexity.
Rum and cognac shape the heart
Rum and cognac echo the warmth of cardamom from the top. Davana adds a subtly herbal-fruity nuance, while jasmine introduces floral fullness. Together they create a heart that is aromatic, softly spicy, and rounded without dissolving into uncomplicated sweetness.
The interaction between jasmine and the two warm spirit notes is especially distinctive. The flower opens the accord, while rum and cognac give it weight. Jaina feels smooth but substantial here, with enough contrast to keep every part recognizable.
Patchouli makes the first move in the base and brings a noticeably drier tone. Tonka and vanilla restore warmth, while sandalwood polishes the woody side. Cashmeran, benzoin, styrax, labdanum, and vetiver add balsamic, earthy, and textured details.
Patchouli and tonka carry the base
Patchouli matters because it pushes back against the creamy tonka-vanilla facet. Sandalwood links these opposing directions and prevents a sudden break. The base therefore feels rich and enveloping while staying more structured than an exclusively sweet gourmand finish.
Benzoin, styrax, and labdanum deepen the warm balsamic impression, whereas vetiver draws a drier line through it. Cashmeran contributes soft woodiness. Jaina consequently ends darker and calmer than its bright peach-and-orange beginning would initially suggest.
The journey from peach through rum to patchouli is the central theme of the fragrance. Jaina shifts its focus several times without losing continuity. Fruit, spirits, flowers, resins, and woods appear as successive layers rather than one crowded block.
How Jaina changes from top to base
Fruity, creamy, spicy, and woody facets all have a role. Sweetness comes not only from vanilla and tonka, but is prepared by peach, davana, and the warm resins. Patchouli and vetiver preserve enough dryness to keep the overall profile balanced.
The unisex classification suits this construction. Peach and jasmine create a softer side, while rum, patchouli, vetiver, and resins add darker depth. Jaina sits comfortably between those poles rather than committing itself to a clearly feminine or masculine direction.
The fragrance signature of Jaina
Its signature can be traced through peach, rum, and patchouli: three markers for beginning, middle, and depth. Vanilla, tonka, and sandalwood connect them, while cardamom, jasmine, and the resins add detail around that central line.
By the end, Jaina has travelled from luminous fruit into a warm, resinous-woody base. Sultan Essancy uses a generous note pyramid, yet the fragrance remains easy to understand because its most important transitions are clearly anchored by peach, rum, and patchouli.
