Rayie by Sultan Essancy – Eau de Parfum for women and men

Top notes: pear, hazelnut, frankincense
Heart notes: osmanthus, roses, saffron, jasmine
Base notes: sandalwood, vanilla, Akigalawood, sandalwood, labdanum, ambergris

Rayie opens like a golden still life of ripe pear and warm hazelnut. Frankincense adds a fine ribbon of smoke, keeping the sweetness calm rather than playful. The first impression is soft and inviting, yet there is already a sense of depth and mystery.

Pear brings juiciness, but hazelnut immediately rounds it with a toasted warmth. Frankincense darkens the background without turning the fragrance severe. That contrast makes Rayie feel more polished than a simple fruity scent and gives the opening a quietly luxurious character.

Pear, hazelnut and a veil of smoke

Fruit framed by incense is the clearest clue to this unusual opening. The pear feels like light falling across dark wood, while incense supplies shade. The result is elegant, warm and noticeably less carefree than a conventional pear perfume.

At the heart, osmanthus, roses, saffron and jasmine create a richer floral world. Osmanthus echoes the fruity softness, roses add velvety fullness, and saffron contributes dry warmth. Jasmine lifts the bouquet, allowing the floral centre to breathe instead of becoming dense.

The movement from golden fruit into flowers feels especially natural. Pear seems to linger while rose and jasmine gain presence, and saffron links both sides with its dry, precious spice. Nothing feels abrupt; the fragrance simply becomes fuller and more textured.

Saffron among roses and jasmine

Rayie therefore never reads as a standard rose perfume or a straightforward vanilla scent. The flowers remain wrapped in fruit, spice and smoke. That blend of softness and shadow is what makes the fragrance difficult to reduce to one familiar category.

Later, sandalwood and vanilla bring a creamier warmth. Akigalawood adds a spicy woody edge, labdanum introduces dark resin, and ambergris contributes a mineral warmth. The base feels smooth and rich, but the drier materials keep it from becoming overly sweet.

The drydown brings to mind polished wood in warm light. Vanilla rounds the edges, while labdanum and Akigalawood preserve a darker outline. The memory of frankincense and saffron still makes sense here, so the softer finish remains connected to the opening.

Creamy woods with darker warmth

Sandalwood shapes the base with calm creamy warmth. It carries vanilla and labdanum, while Akigalawood and ambergris provide drier accents. That balance gives the softer side enough definition and keeps the memory of saffron and frankincense completely believable.

As a whole, Rayie suggests pear in amber-coloured light, toasted hazelnut nearby, saffron threads and smooth wood underneath. Roses and jasmine do not sit decoratively on top; they melt into the warmth. The mood is sensual, composed and slightly mysterious.

You may find Rayie especially appealing if you like fruity sweetness but want more depth than a pure fruit fragrance offers. Pear stays recognisable, yet frankincense, saffron and woods make the scent warmer, more mature and much more nuanced.

Why Rayie feels richer than a fruit scent

Vanilla lovers also get something different from a dessert-like sweetness. Here vanilla is surrounded by wood, resin and florals. It works as a soft connector, while ambergris and Akigalawood give the later impression a drier, lightly spiced contour.

The roses do not make Rayie conventionally romantic. With saffron, incense and labdanum around them, they take on a darker colour. Anyone who enjoys floral scents with oriental warmth and a hint of smoke may find this contrast particularly compelling.

Is this golden fragrance world for you?

Despite its many colours, Rayie remains easy to imagine: juicy pear and hazelnut first, soft florals with saffron in the centre, then vanilla, woods and resin. Each part adds a different shade without losing the same warm golden thread.

What remains in the mind is a warm golden impression rather than one dominant note. Rayie brings fruit, flowers, spice and wood together with unusual balance. If smoky sweetness, saffron and creamy woods appeal to you, this fragrance offers a distinctive direction.
