Lattafa Sumou Eau de Parfum – Oriental Unisex Fragrance

Oriental unisex fragrance with tangerine, rose, sweet myrrh and frankincense – Lattafa Sumou EDP, 100 ml.
What does Lattafa Sumou smell like?
Sumou is Arabic for elevation. The top note opens with tangerine and blackcurrant – fruity, but with a dry, green edge from the hawthorn that stops the whole thing from tipping into something too sweet. An opening that feels fresh and carries itself better than most citrus starts.
The heart is where the real character of this fragrance sits. Sweet myrrh – Commiphora Opoponax – is not the smoky resin you know from church incense. It is soft and balsamic, warm enough to carry the Bulgarian rose without drowning it. The rose smells like an actual rose, not like rose-scented hand cream. Jasmine adds depth and a faint creaminess that sets up the transition to the base.
In the dry-down, white musk, vanilla and frankincense remain. The frankincense is restrained – it gives the fragrance a smoky edge that lifts it out of the purely floral-sweet register without making it heavy. The vanilla rounds off the base. The white musk keeps the scent close to the skin rather than filling the room.
Those who enjoy fragrances that move between warm fruitiness, rose and a soft smoky dry-down will find Sumou a very convincing entry in that category – at a price well below what Western fragrance houses charge for a comparable composition. In some markets Sumou is sold under the name Sumou Gold, referring to the same fragrance in a white bottle with gold detailing.
Gender
Unisex. Sumou is worn equally by women and men. The rose and jasmine appeal to women; the warm myrrh and frankincense in the dry-down give the fragrance enough weight to work just as well on male skin. In the Arab fragrance tradition this is unremarkable – unisex is the default, not the exception.
Scent Profile
Oriental and warm, with a fruity opening and a soft smoky dry-down. This is the kind of fragrance that smells solid on the first spray and noticeably better twenty minutes later once the myrrh has warmed up and the rose has settled. Lattafa delivers in this category what other houses charge three times the price for.
Occasion
Sumou wears well throughout the day. It is understated enough for the office and present enough for dinner. In autumn and winter, when the warmer base notes have more room to develop, it shows its best side. For special occasions – weddings, celebrations, family gatherings – it is a reliable choice that gets noticed without dominating the room. As a gift, it works well; the combination of oriental warmth and fruity freshness suits a broad range of tastes.
Season
Sumou works year-round. In autumn and winter the base of myrrh, vanilla and frankincense carries particularly well. In spring and summer the top note of tangerine and blackcurrant keeps the fragrance fresh enough not to feel oppressive.
Fragrance Family
Oriental floral. Fruity top note, rose-jasmine-myrrh at the heart, warm base of frankincense, vanilla and white musk.
Longevity and Sillage
On well-moisturised skin Sumou lasts six to eight hours. The sillage is moderate – noticeable to others without becoming intrusive. On clothing it lasts considerably longer; those who catch it in the fabric after washing will recognise the effect from similar oriental EDPs.
About Lattafa Perfumes
Lattafa Perfumes has spent years working with raw materials you would not expect at this price point – Bulgarian rose, genuine myrrh extracts, clean musk compounds in fragrances under thirty euros. The house is based in Dubai and produces for a market where fragrance is not an occasional purchase but a daily practice. Sumou is one of the fragrances on which Lattafa built that reputation.
