Warm Oud Sultan Essancy Eau de Parfum – for women and men
Top notes: cardamom, rosewood, pepper
Heart notes: Oudh, vetiver, sandalwood
Base notes: amber, tonka, vanilla
Warm Oud is built around a clear idea: lively spice meeting smooth, warm woods. Cardamom, rosewood and pepper open the fragrance with dry aromatic energy. Oudh, vetiver and sandalwood then move closer together at the heart before amber, tonka and vanilla make the base rounder and softer.
The composition is unisex, although Oudh, vetiver and pepper give it a noticeable masculine lean. Warm Oud still feels approachable because vanilla and tonka do not darken the woody core; they give it creamy warmth. The fragrance is distinctive without becoming rough, dense or overly heavy.
Pepper and cardamom give the opening momentum
Cardamom starts with aromatic spice and a lightly cool edge. Pepper adds a drier, more direct accent and gives the top extra energy. Rosewood connects both sides with subtle woodiness, so the spices already point toward the main woody theme instead of feeling detached from the rest.
There is very little sweetness at the beginning, which makes the warmer notes later on more effective. The opening feels clear, dry and structured without depending on citrus or green accords. Spice remains the focus, while rosewood keeps it comfortably integrated rather than raw.
As the pepper becomes quieter, the direction does not change; the texture does. Dry spice gradually turns into wood. Cardamom stays as an aromatic shadow while Oudh and sandalwood gain more space. The movement feels connected and deliberate instead of like a sudden switch between unrelated stages.
Oudh, vetiver and sandalwood form the core
Oudh provides the darker resinous-woody depth that gives Warm Oud its name. Vetiver adds a drier earthy line and prevents the centre from becoming too soft. Sandalwood catches both elements and gives the heart a calmer, creamier surface without weakening its definition.
Vetiver is especially important to the balance. Without it, Oudh and sandalwood could feel much rounder. Its dry character keeps the heart taut and links back to the pepper in the opening. Warm Oud therefore remains spicy and clear even as the wood becomes noticeably smoother.
Sandalwood, meanwhile, prevents the woody theme from feeling angular. It softens the texture without hiding the Oudh. The centre comes across as a combination of dark depth, dry structure and creamy wood rather than one dominant note pushing everything else aside.
Amber, tonka and vanilla soften the edges
The base shifts the emphasis from dry to warm. Amber adds golden balsamic fullness, tonka introduces a gently nutty sweetness, and vanilla smooths the finish. The woody structure from the heart remains clearly visible underneath that warmth, so the character never disappears.
Vanilla does not lead the base. It works more like a soft frame around Oudh and sandalwood. Warm Oud remains a woody fragrance with sweetness rather than becoming a vanilla fragrance with a little wood. That balance preserves the composition's slightly more masculine character.
Tonka links spice and sweetness particularly well. It echoes the aromatic warmth of cardamom and carries it in a softer direction. With amber, it creates a rounded base that still retains enough dry depth from vetiver, pepper and Oudh to remain clearly structured.
Oudh without a demand for maximum darkness
Warm Oud does not present Oudh as an isolated heavy accord. Rosewood, sandalwood and vanilla reveal softer sides, while pepper and vetiver keep the shape defined. The result feels deep but not impenetrable, warm without becoming syrupy, and spicy without staying sharp throughout.
That balance makes the composition interesting across different preferences. If you enjoy Oudh but also appreciate sandalwood, tonka or vanilla, the fragrance offers a readable transition between dry wood and warmer softness. Its masculine lean comes mainly from pepper, vetiver and the firm woody core.
The concise pyramid helps as well. Each stage has a distinct theme while the levels still interlock. Cardamom prepares the wood, sandalwood opens the route toward the creamy base, and amber with vanilla rounds everything out without changing the central idea.
Why the name Warm Oud fits so well
The warmth does not come from vanilla alone. It grows from spice, Oudh, sandalwood, amber and tonka working together. The fragrance therefore avoids one-dimensional sweetness and instead feels like a woody profile that becomes progressively softer, fuller and rounder.
Warm Oud particularly suits a taste that wants aromatic spices and darker woods joined by a creamy foundation. Cardamom, pepper and vetiver keep enough dryness in the composition, while sandalwood, tonka and vanilla deliver the soft warmth that defines its name.
